Economic Development

The Ortonville EDA was established in 1989 according to the City’s authority pursuant to Minnesota Statutes, Sections 469.090 through 469.108 (the “Economic Development Act”) to:  more effectively centralize and promote the economic, commercial, and industrial development and redevelopment of the City.  In 1995 Council Resolution for EDA to:  role in the community as promoting and stimulating positive development with the emphasis on overall community development.

  • Currently assisting 11 businesses through the Revolving Loan Fund
  • Assisting 8 businesses through the Small Cities Development Grant program
  • Assist Big Stone Area Growth (County EDA) with administrative services
  • Working with the UMVRDC on a Regional Recruitment project
  • Work with the UMVRDC, Southwest Initiative Foundation & the University of Minnesota Extension – Morris, Adult Basic Education and others on educational opportunities for our businesses and general workforce
  • The EDA also has property that is available for development.
